Prince George Fire Rescue respond to a commercial structure fire on George Street.

Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire downtown this morning (Jan. 19).

At about 6:40 a.m. firefighters were called to the 300 block of George Street, where they.found smoke and flame coming from the rear of the building.

The fire had breached the exterior cladding burning the wall and power meter and mast, PGFR said.

Four halls initially responded, crews made a quick attack and limited the damage to the roofline, wall structure and power utilities, and were on the scene for 1 1/2 hours.

Damages are estimated at $40,000, there were no injuries and the fire cause is undetermined but considered suspicious.
