It's another sad day for a Prince George business at the hands of COVID-19.

Prince George Dome, or Roll-A-Dome as it's also known, has announced it is officially not renewing its lease on the building due to continuous struggles in keeping its doors open amid the pandemic.

"Our three-year lease is up and we are sad to announce that we will not be renewing our lease," an announcement on its Facebook page reads.

"We worked hard on trying to bring new life back into the old Rolladome and were well on our way to doing it until COVID-19 hit."

The venue has been working with the community of Prince George since 1955.

The building has hosted numerous events such as roller derby, basketball and competitive indoor soccer, as well as business fairs, craft fairs, antique shops, large parties and even weddings.

"Over the three years we managed to update a lot inside the building and we did so with the help and support from many local businesses," the Dome's announcement continues.

"Rona, PG Rentals, Local Rental Solutions, Excel Painting and many more.

"We had many friends and family always willing to come down and help out and of course all the user groups that volunteered time and expertise to help tackle many of the building upgrades. The Rolladome/ PG Dome has been a huge part of our life and we hope to see it continue as a recreational facility."

The hope is to keep the iconic building in the community, whoever should own the recreation facility next.

"To everyone that supported us, we want to say a big THANK YOU for helping bringing the community together."

PrinceGeorgeMatters has reached out to the facility for more details about the announcement and will update when other information is received.
