Another tough road trip for the Prince George Cougars saw them continue a streak they desperately want to get out of.

The team has not won a game since Jan. 12, when they shut out the Kelowna Rockets 4-0 at the CN Centre, and have now lost nine games in a row as a result of losses in Kamloops (4-1, Feb. 1) and Vancouver (4-2, Feb. 2).

Prince George has only scored a combined six goals in their last five games, allowing 19 against them in that same span.

On Friday night, Taylor Gauthier was sharp between the pipes for the Cougars, stopping 40 of 44 shots and was named the game’s second star.

On Saturday against the red-hot Giants, back-up goaltender Isaiah DiLaura got the start, making 28 saves on 31 shots with Vancouver’s last goal being an empty-netter.

Cole Moberg and Josh Maser potted the two goals Saturday.

For Maser, it was his team-leading 19th marker of the season, while Moberg leads all Prince George defencemen with 10 goals and 27 points.

The Cougars will meet with the BC Division-leading Giants this week, but this time, they’ll face off in their barn to start one of four back-to-back series’ throughout the month of February.

They’ll look to break the streak in front of the home crowd, coming in with a record of 16-29-3-2 and eight points back of a playoff spot.

Vancouver was also ranked as a first honourable mention in last week’s CHL Top 10 rankings.

Puck drop is 7 p.m. for both tomorrow (Feb. 5) and Wednesday (Feb. 6).
