The Prince George Cougars were held off the scoresheet Wednesday night (Jan. 15).
This marks the sixth time the Cats were blanked in the 2019-20 season and the fifth time it’s been done on the road.
Prince George fell to Brandon by a score of 4-0 and couldn’t light a lamp in the 21 shots they put towards Wheat Kings’ netminder Jiri Patera, who recorded his fourth shut out of the year.
On the other side, Taylor Gauthier stopped 37 of 41 shots from the black and yellow.
It’s his seventh game where he saw 40 shots or more from an opposing team, the third time it’s happened on the Cougar’s current six-game East Division road-trip.
The Wheat Kings opened the scoring while on a power-play 8:12 into the first period and the 1-0 score would stand through the first and second intermissions.
Brandon followed up in the third with three goals, including two in a matter of 31 seconds, leading to the 4-0 final.
Prince George’s special teams failed to score on four man-advantages as their record slips to 11-24-3-4.
The Cougars’ extended road trip concludes in Moose Jaw Friday night (Jan. 17), 5 p.m. against the Warriors.
