Prince George is officially 1-1-1-1 on their current six-game road trip as of last night (Jan. 14).

The Cougars lost their first game in regulation out along the 2019-20 East Division swing, falling by a score of 5-1 at the hands of the Winnipeg Ice.

Goaltender Tyler Brennan was given the chance to play in front of friends and family, turning away 29 of 34 shots in his hometown.

Liam Hughes was the winning netminder for the Ice by stopping 21 of 22 attempts from the Cats.

Newly acquired defenceman Majid Kaddoura potted his first goal in a Prince George sweater, scoring just over two minutes into Tuesday’s contest.

The 18-year-old, who was given to the Cougars in exchange for Rhett Rhinehart, got some help from Filip Koffer and Tyson Upper on his third of the year.

Unfortunately, from there, it was all Winnipeg.

The home team scored five straight goals against Prince George between 3:34 left in the first to the 6:39 mark of the third period.

The Ice had it 1-1 after the opening 20 minutes, 3-1 after 40 and eventually scoring two more in the last frame to get to the 5-1 final.

Jackson Leppard had one assist, was +3 and had two shots against his former Cougar teammates and his Winnipeg squad now sits alone at the top of the East Division.

Prince George remains fifth in the B.C. Division with a record of 11-23-3-4.

They complete the Manitoba mid-week doubleheader tonight (Jan. 15), 5 p.m. in Brandon against the Wheat Kings.
