It was a day to recognize the efforts of Prince George's Ride to Conquer Cancer participants.

The Wheelin' Warriors of the North had a record year, raising just over $207,000 during a 200 km journey from Cloverdale to Hope in the B.C. Ride to Conquer Cancer.

Mayor Lyn Hall also attended the ride to support, but worked with the motorcycle crew instead of riding with the group.

"They have put Prince George on the map," Mayor Lyn Hall said. "Everybody knows the Wheelin' Warriors and that's because they've been so prominent in the community of Prince George and they've done tremendous work throughout the entire province and everybody knows them and it really does promote our community through the work and the efforts that they're putting in."

Since 2013, the Wheelin' Warriors of the North have raised close to $1 million, which they hope to break in 2020.

Their current total is $958.774.14.

"I'm so very proud of this team," Founder and Team Captain Karin Piche said. "This year's team of 2019 raised just over $207,000 and I know that there are funds still coming in. This was a record-breaking year. I can't thank the community of Prince George and beyond enough for all of their commitment and support to our team and everyone on it and helping us get to the Ride to Conquer Cancer but more importantly, saving lives."

The group finished eighth in team total fundraising for the 2019 ride and also finished third in top community fundraising.

The Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised more than $105.1 million in 11 years.
