Shirley Bond will play a big role in the new provincial government with four cabinet committee assignments to go along with her new portfolio leading the jobs, tourism and skills training ministry.
The Prince George-Valemount MLA will chair the newly-created strong economy committee and has a seat at two of the most powerful committees: treasury board as well as priorities and planning. Additionally, Bond will sit on the legislative review committee.
Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister John Rustad, who represents Nechako Lakes, will join Bond on the strong economy committee. He will also sit on the environment and land use committee.
Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister Coralee Oakes, the rookie MLA from Cariboo North, also has a spot on the strong economy committee.
Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris didn't get a cabinet portfolio, but is a member of the environment and land use committee.
Premier Christy Clark created two new committees based on her Liberal party's campaign slogan: Strong Economy and Secure Tomorrow. There is no local representation on the secure tomorrow committee.
