True to their profession, the local members of the Canadian Public Relations Society are quickly telling the world about the two national awards they just won.
The Northern Lights Chapter of the CPRS attended this past weekend's annual general meeting in Halifax. Their the local contingent won the Membership Achievement Award (for net membership growth) and the Lectern Award (high level of membership engagement).
"The growth in CPRS Northern Lights over the past few years has been remarkable. It is a
pleasure to recognize CPRS Northern Lights with these awards in honour of their outstanding achievement in promoting the public relations profession," said CPRS national president Derrick Pieters.
The Northern Lights Chapter covers the upper region of the province (north of Kelowna) and the three territories. It has grown from six to 21 members in the past two years
"Our society is a bit different from the others in CPRS, in that our members are from many different communities, some of them 1,800 kilometres apart," said the chapter's membership chair Rene McCloskey.
"For us, membership in CPRS is not about the place where you practice, it's about the passion you have for PR. We're proud to be the home of northern communicators, and we look forward to continuing our growth."
