Power outage strikes thousands

A power outage blacked out much of Prince George Tuesday night, leaving almost 8,900 homes in the dark. The outage, which B.C. Hydro attributed to a transmission circuit failure, hit at around 9:29 p.m., according to the power firm's website.

A power outage blacked out much of Prince George Tuesday night, leaving almost 8,900 homes in the dark.

The outage, which B.C. Hydro attributed to a transmission circuit failure, hit at around 9:29 p.m., according to the power firm's website. It took out power to most of the city north of the John Hart Bridge, down Chief Lake Road to McPhee Road to the east, to the Shelley reserve in the west, up to the Salmon River Forest Road, past Salmon Valley in the north.
