We almost made it to the end of September without talking about snow, but here we are.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement as wet snow is a high possibility for commuters and drivers on Highway 97 and the Pine Pass north of Prince George today (Sept. 27).
According to meteorologists, a cooler airmass is over the Peace River region and is expected to stay there well into the weekend, seeing periods of rain mixed, at times, with wet snow.
The areas that will likely see more snowfall accumulations than anywhere else will be further north towards Fort Nelson with a predicted 5 cm of wet snow this afternoon.
More locally, the forecast is showing lots of sunny skies for Prince George this weekend, but that cooler airmass could arrive by Wednesday (Oct. 2) and bring a 30 per cent chance of wet flurries.
Environment Canada is reminding all drivers to use caution when travelling along Highway 97 and through higher elevations.
