Prince George RCMP are advising bargain hunters to be skeptical if they come across a great deal on a bike or a barbecue while scrolling through an online marketpace - the items could be hot.

On Sunday, RCMP were called to the discovery of an abandoned tractor trailer with the cargo doors open in a spot off West Beaverly Road and determined it - and the items found inside - had been stolen from a local department store.

"Some of the stolen items include CCM and Raleigh bikes, as well as BBQs," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.

"We are cautioning those using online market places this summer to be wary of buying these types of items if the deal seems ‘too good to be true’.

"It’s possible these are some of the stolen items from this investigation. Anyone found to be in possession of the stolen items risks having the item recovered by police and could possibly face charges of possession of stolen property."

Anyone concerned they may have found some of the stolen items are asked take a screenshot of the merchandise and report the incident to Prince George RCMP by calling the non-emergency number at 250-561-3300.
