Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed a motor vehicle crash into a power pole on Foothills Boulevard near Ochakwin Crescent on Friday night that left part of the city without electricity.

Just before 9 p.m., RCMP found a grey Ford F-150 was sitting in the raised centre median, facing southbound. It had extensive front-end damage while the power pole had been sheared off.

Several other vehicles with their hazard lights on were also in the vicinity but due to the danger posed by the downed power pole, witnesses were quickly cleared from the scene by emergency services personnel.

The driver, meanwhile, was taken to hospital.

Police are trying to determine if alcohol was involved.

"We're just looking for anybody who saw the accident or the person driving a few minutes ahead of the accident to come forward and give their witness statement," Cst. Jennifer Cooper said.

They are asked to call the detachment at 250-561-3300. The police file number is 2021-5909.
