The Prince George RCMP are investigating a potential link between a raft of thefts and a case of arson in the city.
Fire crews responded to the 700 block of Winnipeg Street early Saturday morning after reports of a travel trailer fire. On arrival, 14 firefighters from three halls found the trailer as well as two vehicles aflame in the driveway, with fire extending to the house.
Crews were able to limit and contain the damage to the home to a second-storey bedroom. Two residents were home at the time, but had already made it out safely before crews arrived.
After the blaze was extinguished, fire investigators were able to determine that the fire was suspicious and believe it to be arson. The damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.
According to the RCMP, several residents in the area had their vehicles broken into and police are looking into a possible link between the thefts and arson. Investigators are interested in speaking with anyone in the neighbourhood whose vehicles was broken into on the evening of May 24.
