A police dog helped locate an ill and barely conscious Prince George woman early Tuesday morning which allowed her to get immediate medical care.
Just before midnight Prince George RCMP were called to help locate a woman who was missing from her home in the area around the intersection of Ospika Boulevard and Massey Drive. Police were told that the woman was sick and could be in need of medical care.
Baron, a police service dog, was enlisted to help find the woman and she was located just over an hour later in a wooded area about 20 metres from a trail in Ginter's Field.
According to RCMP, in addition to the woman's pre-existing medical condition she was also barely conscious and suffering from hypothermia. Police officers were able to help the woman get out of the woods and bring her to waiting paramedics who transported her to hospital.
"The dedication of our officers, including Baron is second to none," RCMP Insp. Brad Anderson said in a news release. "I am very proud of the work they do every day to help members of this community."
