The Christmas CounterAttack campaign against driving while impaired is up and running.
RCMP conducted a road check Friday afternoon on Fifth Avenue between Tabor and Ospika.
They plan to keep the pace up during the holiday season.
"Our goal is to remove impaired drivers from our roads so that we can reduce injuries and deaths" Cpl. Corey Eggen of the Prince George RCMP's municipal traffic section said. "Our wish this holiday season is that everyone we check will be sober and that everyone gets to their destination safely."
During the campaign, police are conducting enhanced road checks which means drivers may be pulled over to check their sobriety.
Those who show signs of impairment by alcohol or other drugs will be subject to further investigation and possible charges under the Motor Vehicle Act or Criminal Code.
Anyone who sees someone driving under the influence is also encouraged to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or dial 911.
There are other options to get home. Both Keys Please and Operation Red Nose will not only deliver you but your vehicle to your destination.
To get a ride from ORN, call 250-962-RIDE (7433) when the phone lines are open between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Volunteer teams will be on the road on Friday and Saturday nights through to Dec. 27 and on New Year's Eve.
Clients must provide their phone number, pick-up and drop-off locations and the make and model of their vehicle (which must have a B.C. licence plate).
ORN is a free, seasonal service organized by the Nechako Rotary Club of Prince George in partnership with the RCMP and ICBC to help partygoers get themselves and their vehicle home.
