Prince George RCMP have arrested a Prince George man and charged him with several offences after a violent incident Sunday evening.
Police and Prince George Fire Rescue crews from three halls were called to a residence in the 7800 block of Kelly Road South in the Hart Highway area at about 8 p.m. Sunday after a report of a man causing a disturbance at the house.
The man reportedly forced his way into the residence and was causing damage to the property. He assaulted another male and lit a shed on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and damage to the shed and its contents was estimated at $10,000.
While responding to the call, police were told the man had forcibly broken into a neighbouring residence. They arrested the man, 31-year-old Daniel James Wingfield, at the scene without further incidence.
Wingfield has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences: assault, two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm, uttering threats to damage property, arson, break and enter to commit an offence and mischief to property.
He was remanded to police custody and will appear in court later this afternoon. RCMP confirmed all people involved in Sunday’s incident were known to each other. The investigation is continuing.
