Kelly Road secondary school has been transformed into a police training academy during spring break to give youth a real taste of boot camp associated with becoming an RCMP.
The teens get up at 6 a.m. from the makeshift barracks in the school, go for a five-kilometre run, have breakfast, then begin day-long classroom work. The day ends at 10 p.m. usually with a set of scenarios they create using actors and actual police resources in a replica situation.
