Northern Health is planning partial power outages at the Prince George hospital this weekend.
Parts of the University Hospital of Northern B.C. will go dark from 11 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 to the evening of Sunday, Dec. 6.
During that time the health authority is also planning a region wide information technology system network outage - which will impact its whole network including its websites.
Northern Health said the move is expected to impact all the essential electrical circuits and some of the non-essential equipment at the hospital.
There will be reduced lighting and limited elevator access at various times throughout the weekend.
"Staff and physicians are working hard to implement contingency plans that focus on caring for patients," the release said. "We would ask that people only go to UHNBC during the maintenance work if it is an emergency."
