"This is a great success for both Prince George and Kamloops residents to celebrate," said BC SPCA spokesperson Lorie Chortyk. "We are so grateful to our staff and volunteers who worked so hard to organized fundraising events and to our amazing supporters for their generous donations. Both communities have made a life-saving difference for animals in need."

Last year, Kamloops bested Prince George in fundraising by nearly $20,000

According to the BC SPCA, the society cared for nearly 29,000 domestic, farm and wild animals in 2012, including 1,969 in Prince George and 1,293 in Kamloops.
