A report on RCMP behaviour in the North and rural B.C., by the B.C. Civil Liberties Association, lists a number of concerns.

They are as follows:

- Judge David Ramsay sex assault (2002)

A provincial court judge was convicted of sexually assaulting underage, aboriginal girls in the community. As part of the investigation into Ramsay's escapades, 10 RCMP officers were also linked to sexual abuse. The investigation ultimately failed due to RCMP delays, although one officer was suspended and then re-instated.

- Death of Clayton Wiley (2003)

A hog-tied man is repeatedly Tasered, dropped from an SUV, and later dies. The investigation finds no misconduct.

- Mr. McDonald (2002)

A local RCMP officer is convicted of assault for breaking the face and teeth of a person being arrested. The officer's duties remain unchanged. The officer in question is the same officer involved in the Willey death and in the following incident.

- J.A.L. (2006)

Supervisor and officer found by judge to have destroyed video evidence. There was no discipline levied in this incident. In his finding, the judge said two officers, one a supervisor, took steps to destroy or conceal cell-block surveillance tapes of the incident. The man said he was Tasered 20 times while inside his cell.

-J.A. (2010)

The RCMP decline independent investigation of a case in which an aboriginal woman claimed she was sexually assaulted during an arrest. The RCMP later refused to confirm or deny they intentionally provided inaccurate information in an attempt to influence media coverage.

There were also positive comments about the local force, including:

- accolades for the community policing program

- the overall strong reputation of members

- positive police presence at local drop-in centres where members help homeless people with services

- good work in schools around youths and drugs, alcohol and violence

- an RCMP initiated program around mental health training for non-profit organization staff
