A 43-year-old Penticton man died Monday when his pickup truck collided with a logging truck on the Finlay forest service road north of Mackenzie.
The collision occurred at about 1 p.m. at the 93-kilometre mark where the vehicles met at a single-lane bridge.
A preliminary investigation has indicated the pickup truck struck a concrete post and then the logging truck's trailer causing significant damage to the passenger side. Damage to the logging truck was minimal.
"Investigators advise there is nothing to suggest the incident is a criminal matter at this time," said North District RCMP Cst. Lesley Smith on Tuesday. "The B.C. coroner with the assistance of Mackenzie RCMP and the North District traffic analyst will continue to investigate this tragic incident".
The man's name was not released on Tuesday, but police did say he had been working in the Fort Ware area at the time. The collision closed the road to Tsay Keh Dene for several hours on Monday.
