A 49-year-old man was taken to hospital yesterday (Dec. 2) to be treated for serious injuries, according to Prince George RCMP.
Mounties responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Highway 97 and Highway 16 before 4 p.m. on Monday, in which first responders were forced to partially close the major crossroads for two hours.
Emergency services tended to the injured man and took him to hospital.
Witnesses told police, along with evidence gathered from the scene, an SUV-style vehicle was heading westbound on Highway 16 and went through a green light at the time of the collision.
The intersection re-opened around 6 p.m., says Drive BC.
The investigation is ongoing.
This incident is prompting RCMP to remind commuters to drive cautiously and Drive BC adds to drive with care during the winter months, giving yourself plenty of space between you and the vehicle ahead.
