A 30-year-old man died in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Highway 97 on Saturday evening.
Initial indications are that the driver of a north bound SUV was proceeding through the intersection on a green light when the man stepped out onto the travel portion of the roadway, Prince George RCMP said.
Police were called to the scene at 7 p.m.
"The pedestrian was wearing all dark clothing and it was dark and raining at the time of the incident," RCMP said.
Pedestrians are urged to wear bright, reflective clothing and always obey traffic laws while drivers should remain alert for pedestrians and bicyclists at all times.
