Police are looking for a suspect in a hit-and-run that left a man with severe injuries on Monday.
RCMP believe the man was walking southbound on Highway 97 near the intersection of Boundary Road when he was hit from behind by a southbound vehicle or trailer around 10:30 p.m. The suspect vehicle didn't stop.
"The Prince George RCMP would like to thank those members of the public that stopped to assist shortly after the collision," a statement issued by the RCMP said. "Their efforts may have saved the victim's life."
Police officers and paramedics were called to the scene and treated the man, who was rushed to the hospital.
Several pieces of the suspect vehicle or trailer were found at the scene, indicating the vehicle was noticeably damaged.
Prince George RCMP are urging the driver of the vehicle to come forward and identify themselves to police.

Prince George RCMP are reminding the public to take extra care when walking along roadways, and walking along highways is particularly dangerous. Always walk on the side facing traffic and be sure to wear reflective clothing or use a flashlight when walking in the dark.
Drivers are also reminded to take extra care to watch for pedestrians on the road as the days get shorter.
