Walkers, runners and cyclists are now allowed back at the parks and trails that were closed due to the high water.

Paddlewheel Park, the island in Cottonwood Island Nature Park, and the Heritage River Trail, from the canoe launch to Taylor Drive, have been reopened, city hall said Friday.

The sites had been closed for much of May as melted snow from the spring freshet spilled into the Nechako and Fraser Rivers.

"Steadily dropping water levels now allow the affected park areas and trails to be reopened," city hall said.

The evacuation alert for Farrell Street residents was rescinded earlier this week.
