There's a Social Distance Parade for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Monday at 2 p.m. starting at CN Centre.

The City of Prince George has set a proclamation to honour World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

The parade of cars will drive onto Ospika Boulevard to Fifth Avenue to downtown Prince George.

This event is organized by BC Community Response Network that raises awareness of abuse and neglect of older adults in the province.

The parade theme colour is purple and having a sea of purple drive through the city is an innovative way to get the message out to the community, Shelly LeBreton, from the BC Community Response Network, said.

"Having a presence in our community on June 15 will help to bring awareness to the issue and continue the work to help end elder abuse," LeBreton said.
