Pair of Prince George restaurants permanently closing this weekend

Both establishments will say goodbye on Saturday

Two popular dining spots in the city have announced they will be closing their doors permanently this weekend.

Original Joe’s, located in College Heights, posted a noticed on its door informing customers its last day of operations will be Saturday, May 28.

“After negotiating at the head office level, we regret to inform our valued guests that corporate, and the landlord of this establishment were not able to reach a lease renewal terms due to the increase in rent upon negotiations of renewing the lease,” wrote management.

“Please join us and come say goodbye. We will let supplies dwindle food items and alcohol are on a countdown.”

Downtown restaurant North City Donair, located on Third Avenue, also announced it would be closing operations this weekend.

In a social media post management thanked customers for five-and-a-half years of support.

“We are very proud of our professional accomplishments and feel blessed to have been around this long. with current ongoing potential sale of ownership, we require time to transition ourselves into our next chapter.”

The locally-run spot was known for Halifax style donairs, shawarmas, salads, poutines and gelato.
