Francofun ski
Join Le Cercle des Canadians Francais de Prince George for an evening of cross-country skiing Feb. 2 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Otway Nordic Ski Centre. The event takes place as part of the annual Francofun Winter Festival. Purchase tickets and rentals at Otway.
Snow dazed
As part of the Snow Daze festival, there will be a five-mile night run, setting out from the Westwood Pub Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. A party with a live band will follow at the pub. Tickets for the run and afterparty are $12 or $20 for two people. Prize for best "glowing" runner and fastest male and female. Entry forms available at www.strideandglide.ca.
Winter carnival
The fourth annual Quesnel Winter Carnival takes place Feb. 4 at West Fraser Timber Park. Starting at 1 p.m., the city will celebrate all things winter with a wide variety of sports to try from skiing, snowshoeing, skating and even Frisbee golf. Kids can keep busy by bringing or creating onsite their best headwear for the Crazy Toque contest. Willow River snowshoe
Join the Caledonia Ramblers as they lead an easy snowshoe at Willow River Interpretive Trail to the wildlife viewing area Feb. 5. The trip will be approximately four hours long, with a carpool fee of $5. Meet behind City Hall at least 10 minutes before the departure time of 9 a.m.
Iceman cometh
Volunteer, participate or just come out to cheer during Prince George's 25th annual Iceman event Feb. 12. The eight-kilometre ski, five-kilometre skate, five-kilometre run and 800-metre swim will be a testament to the Prince George spirit.
