It's New Year's Eve which means it’s the biggest night of the Year for Operation Red Nose.
However, as nearly everyone will be out on the town to ring in 2019 Operation Red Nose organizers are asking party-goers for a little patience as volunteers deliver safe rides home.
“With only 25 teams out tonight on New Year’s Eve, we know from previous years we’ll be quite busy between midnight and 4 a.m. getting everyone home safely. We’ll provide rides within city limits that night only as we’ve done in the past,” says Operation Red Nose Prince George spokesperson Andrea Johnson.
Those who need a ride home can call 250-962-7433 between 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Last New Year’s Eve, 24 teams delivered 166 rides, in 2016 24 teams provided 172 rides and in 2015 35 teams provided 209 rides.
So far this year after eight nights of service, Operation Red Nose, has provided 802 safe rides home in 2018 with the help of 200 volunteers.
In 2017 a total of 839 rides were delivered over the course of nine nights. In 2016, a total of 872 rides were delivered over the course of 10 nights, while 1,059 rides were provided on nine nights in 2015.
Operation Red Nose is organized by the Rotary Club of Prince George Nechako in partnership with ICBC and the Prince George RCMP.
