An open house will be held next week on the plan to apply biosolids from the city's sewage system to a tree farm in Red Rock.

It will be held on Wed., Feb. 3 at Red Rock-Stoner Fire Hall, 7 p.m. start.

The event will include a presentation from Sylvis, an environmental consultant that specializes in handling biosolids, and a question and answer period about the program.

The plan has met with some controversy in part because a storage area at the east end of Patterson Road was partially completed before neighbours were notified and because of general concern about the health and environmental effects the material may pose.

The proposal must win Ministry of Environment approval before it can go ahead.
