Prince George residents will have a chance to eat, drink and be merry for a good cause tonight (Dec. 14).

Omineca Arts Centre and Fight C Prince George are partnering to host a multi-faceted fundraiser for residents of Old Fort. More than 200 residents of the small community near Fort St. John were pushed from their homes in October after a landslide forced them to evacuate.

Tonight's event, a blend of spoken word and musical performances, will take place from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at Omineca Arts Centre, at 369 Victoria St. Admission is by a suggested donation of $25. A dinner of soup and salad will be served for an additional $10 between 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. Noted local poet Andrew Burton, recently longlisted for the CBC Poetry Award, will be reading some work from his newest chapbook.

After the poetry, music will begin at 8 p.m., and a cash bar will open at that time. Musical guests include Daniela Castell, Sean Wesley Wood and Rachelle van Zanten.

The event will also feature a silent auction with donated art and other items.
