Initiatives Prince George officially has a new leader.

The board of directors for the city's marketing branch confirmed Heather Oland is the permanent replacement for former IPG chief executive officer Tim McEwan.

Oland has been in the role on an interim basis since Jan. 30, following McEwan's abrupt departure.

"I'm really looking forward to the opportunity of working for the community and to help diversify our economic base," said Oland, who joined IPG in September, 2011, as vice president of strategic initiatives.

"I was certainly looking for a career change and was very much wanting to work for Initiatives Prince George because I appreciate its public purpose and the important role it plays in the economy and for the community of Prince George," she said. "I was looking to be here for a long time and I'm glad it's turned out that way."

IPG also announced the promotion of Mark Feldinger to chair of the board, taking over from Glen Wonders who held the position for the past year and a half. Steve Nycholat moves into Feldinger's previous post of the board's vice chair. Wonders will continue to serve IPG as past chair.
