Occupant rescued from rollover

The jaws of life were used to free the lone occupant of a minivan that went off Highway 16 and rolled down a 50-foot embankment on Friday evening.

The jaws of life were used to free the lone occupant of a minivan that went off Highway 16 and rolled down a 50-foot embankment on Friday evening.

Fort George Highway Rescue and the Ferndale Tabor Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene, about 20 kilometres east of Prince George, where low angle rescue was then used to get the occupant up to safety, FGHR spokesman Keith Laboucan said.

Power lines were lying across the vehicle, so B.C. Hydro was called to shut down power to the area to make it safe for rescuers, Laboucan added. They were called to the scene at about 6:30 p.m.
