There was -1 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Authority region on Friday.
In a joint statement issued on Friday, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix corrected the number of cases in the north to 65, down from the 66 reported on Thursday.
"Today, we are announcing 16 new cases who have tested positive for COVID-19, for a total of 2,709 cases in British Columbia," the joint statement said. "There are 187 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 2,354 people who tested positive have recovered."
The number of active cases in the Northern Heath region wasn't provided. However, the B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported there was one active case in the north, and that patient was not hospitalized. Numbers from the B.C. CDC on Thursday showed one patient in intensive care in the Northern Health region.
There was one new death from COVID-19 reported in the Vancouver Coastal Health region on Friday, bringing the province's death toll from the pandemic to 168. As of Friday, no deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in the north.
"Of the total COVID-19 cases, 12 individuals are hospitalized, three of whom are in intensive care," the statement said. "The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation."
