Local charities, non-profits, and community groups now have the chance to apply for up to $100,000 in funding from Four Rivers Co-operative’s annual Community Support Fund Program.
Four Rivers Co-operative is a member-owned business with a presence in 10 communities in North Central BC, ranging from Terrace in the West, Valemont in the East, Fort St. James in the North and Quesnel in the south.
The application period for the $100,000 in funding officially opened Sept. 1 and will close on Oct. 31.
Last year, Four River’s donated over $115,000 to various community groups, charities, youth groups, and sporting organizations including Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Prince George who were awarded $15,000.
Other recipients included Lakes District Family Enhancement Society in Burns Lake, Nechako Valley Search & Rescue in Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake Fire Rescue Training Society, Quesnel and District Hospice Palliative Care Association, Houston Public Library Association, Cluculz Lake Community Recreation Society, Mapes, Blackwater, Sob Lake Community Club, and the Nechako Valley Community Services Society.
“If you, or someone you know, is part of a charity, non-profit organization or community group that has a program or project that improves the quality of life within our communities, encourage them to apply for funding,” says the announcement on the Four Rivers Co-operative’s Facebook Page.
Community groups, registered non-profits, community associations or registers charities are eligible to apply for the funding, but applicants must provide a service to the community that improves quality of life to qualify.
Four Rivers Co-op gives consideration to groups that support things like social needs, housing, food, and medical needs and applicants are selected by the Four Rivers Co-operative Board of Directors.
The application form and guideline to apply can be found on Four Rivers Co-op’s website. Once applicants download the application form they can either complete it digitally or mail it, along with supporting documents to Four Rivers Co-Operative at PO Box 560, Vanderhoof BC, V0J 3A0.
The Board of Directors will review applications in November and the recipients will be after that time and the recipients will be announced publicly once all successful recipients have been notified.
