While Northern Health's COVID-19 positivity rate continues to drop, it still remains the highest in B.C.
The latest BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) seven-day moving average shows, as of Wednesday (Feb. 24), the region's rate sits at 11.7 per cent, which is still the only authority in the province sitting in double digits.
For comparison, Island Health sits at 3.9 per cent, Vancouver Coastal Health is at six per cent, Fraser Health is eight per cent, Interior Health is currently at 4.5 per cent.
Prince George specifically has seen a decline in COVID cases.
From Feb. 14-20, 2021, the local health area recorded 70 cases which is still the highest count in the north.
Peace River South added 22 cases, while the Peace River North region saw 31 total cases.
The Nechako area added an additional four cases and Quesnel saw another two.
As of this publication (Feb. 26), Northern Health has a recorded total of 4,478 COVID-19 cases with 270 active.
There are 30 people currently in the hospital throughout the region with 12 of those in ICU or critical care.
A total of 106 lives have been lost due to the virus while 4,091 have been classified as fully recovered.
