Northern B.C.'s COVID-19 positivity rate continues to see improvement, but is still the highest in the province.
According to the latest BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) data, Northern Health currently holds an 11.1 per cent seven-day moving average as of March 1, 2021.
It also remains the only health authority in double-digit figures compared to other regions.
Island Health is sitting at 3.4 per cent, Vancouver Coastal Health 5.8 per cent, Fraser Health has seen a rise to 7.7 per cent while Interior Health continues to remain below five per cent.
Overall, the province's seven-day moving average is currently at 6.3 per cent.
As of this publication (March 3), Northern Health has recorded 4,649 cases since its first two were detected on March 14, 2020.
There are 270 active cases throughout the region with 30 currently hospitalized, 11 of which are in ICU/critical care.
A total of 107 lives have been lost to the virus while 4,256 cases have been classified as fully recovered.

Northern Health's school-exposure section also explains the following:
- Contact tracing is initiated to determine how the individual was infected and who they were in close contact with
- We identify and notify close contacts who may be at an increased risk, and advise them to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms for 14 days
- Only Public Health can determine who is a close contact
- Learning groups, friends or other connections may not be determined to be a close contact
- Public Health staff works closely with the school and school district throughout the case and contact management process to maintain close communication with the school community
