The Fort St. John RCMP says the B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges against 33-year old Travis Sharyk, after he was arrested breaking into a locked compound on 100th Ave.

In a media release, police said they received a call just after midnight on Dec. 1 from a local security company reporting that a suspicious man had broken into their compound. It's alleged Sharyk smashed the window of a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up, and lit it on fire when police arrived.

Sharyk then hid underneath another truck in the compound, but was soon located by police, they added.

Sharyk was held in custody and charged with willfully resisting arrest, break and enter, arson and mischief to property. He will remain in custody for his next court appearance.
