It's now been 31 days without any newly discovered COVID-19 cases in the Northern Health Authority.

Today (July 10) in a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced B.C. has recorded 25 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 3,053.

Northern B.C. has not seen a case since June 9, with the total staying at 65.

There are 187 active cases, 16 people in hospital being treated for COVID-19 and five in critical care, along with 2,679 recoveries.

Henry says there have been one new death in the province, which brings the total to 187

Across B.C., there are 990 COVID-19 cases in Vancouver Coastal, 1,610 in Fraser Health, 135 on Vancouver Island and 202 in the Interior Health region.

Henry also said there have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. In total, there are two long-term care or assisted-living facilities and one acute care facility with active outbreaks.

Officials say while there are no active community outbreaks right now, new cases and community exposure events are still happening in communities.

“As we continue through summer, simple steps will help us to keep COVID-19 low and slow in British Columbia," the statement reads. When spending more time with friends and family, whether that is close to home or on vacation elsewhere in the province, we remind all British Columbians to avoid closed spaces, crowds and close contact with others."

“We know that the more layers of protection we use, the safer we will be. Let’s all ‘layer up’ by washing our hands regularly, using barriers, staying a safe distance from others and using a mask when that is challenging."

“The actions you take every day make a difference and will help to protect all of us.”
