Every time they take the ice, Prince George Spruce Kings players feel the community’s energy and encouragement for their efforts throughout the season.

Today (April 14), the team is turning the tables to join in on the daily appreciation for front-line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and have announced a new initiative to thank those who work hard so local residents can stay healthy.

Dubbed as ‘Buy One, Gift One,’ the Spruce Kings are encouraging fans to buy a $10 ticket voucher to a 2020-21 regular-season game and for every one that’s purchased, a voucher will be given to an essential service worker.

“We see the nightly parade by the hospital, the support given by and to Emergency Services, and the many thanks people are giving to grocery and pharmacy workers these days,” says Spruce Kings Business Operations Manager Kyle Anderson in a team release.

“This initiative will run from now through the end of August to show thanks to those who are working during these times, and we will honour them each time they attend our games as well.”

Anderson adds fans who participate can request a specific front-line worker to receive the voucher.
