The results of a pre-sentence report for Frank Marion will have to wait until he finds a new lawyer.
The Prince George man has been found guilty of manslaughter in the 2012 death of Jagdev Singh Jawanda and was awaiting the results of a psychiatric assessment before he could be sentenced.
Defence lawyer Keith Jones told B.C. Supreme Court Justice Ron Tindale on Monday that he had been discharged from the case by Marion and that his former client would be seeking to have different representation.
In March, Tindale ruled there was enough evidence to find Marion guilty of three charges in relation to a fire that was set at 2772 Merritt Road on the early morning of Jan. 7, 2012. Jawanda was killed in the blaze.
The psychiatric assessment is needed to determine whether Marion can be found criminally responsible for his actions. In the meantime, Marion remains in custody.
