School board trustees will consider authorizing three new high school courses when they hold a regular meeting on Tuesday night.

Proposed are Outdoor Pursuits 11 at McBride Secondary, Outdoor Recreation 12 at Prince George Secondary School and Soccer 11 at Prince George Secondary School.

Also on the agenda, the city's long range planning manager, Dan Milburn, will give a presentation on the official community plan and trustees will also hear from the Prince George Retired Teachers' Association's education heritage committee.

The proposal to establish a committee of the whole to come up with proposals to deal with the school district's $500,000 transportation budget shortfall will be up for discussion as will minor revisions to the board's organization and operation bylaw.

Trustees will also look at a one-week spring break for the 2011-12 school year, from March 19 to 23, and setting Sept. 6, Oct. 21, Jan. 27, Feb. 17, March 9 and April 27 as non-instructional days. The Christmas break would be Dec. 19-Jan. 2 under the proposed calendar.
