New CEO named for Spirit of the North

As Judy Neiser takes over the reigns as CEO of the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, she wants to build on the success the charitable organization had under her predecessor.

The foundation announced Friday that Neiser has been named its new top executive, replacing Jessica Aldred, who is leaving the organization after one year due to personal reasons but is staying on during the leadership transition.

"Under the direction and leadership of Jessica, the Spirit of the North has really done amazing things," Neiser said. "I'm hopeful that I can continue on with a lot of work she has done in the community and I have a fabulous board that really focussed on making sure we work closely with Northern Health."

Although Neiser expects there to be a learning curve with the new job, she's familiar with the organization and will be able to draw on her tenure as strategic relations manager at Spirit of the North - a position she's held since the spring. Prior to that, Neiser was the executive director of the Prince George Community Foundation.

For two decades, the Spirit of the North Healtcare Foundation has been responsible for raising funds in the community to help Northern Health provide better services. The money it raises through events like Festival of Trees and the radiothon helps to cover capital costs for equipment purchases and renovations.
