Site preparation work for the new hospital in Burns Lake will begin on Tuesday.
Northern Health officially awarded the $1.3 million project to Yellowridge Construction of Port Moody on Thursday. Part of the contract also went to Nickel Brothers to move the current nurses' residence.
The prep work -- which includes installing new water and sewer lines -- is expected to be finished this fall. In the meantime, Northern Health is going through applications from companies who bid on the overall construction project for the new hospital.
The new $55 million hospital is expected to be completed by the summer of 2015.
