A long lineup of rumbling motorcycles will leave the Harley Davidson shop Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to start the journey to Smithers during the 2015 Muscle Run.
The three-day event is a fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy Canada presented by the Prince George Harley Owners Group, which is hoping to see more than 100 bikes participate.
There will be stops in Vanderhoof, Burns Lake, Houston and the ride rolls into Smithers to end the day's run.
When the group gets to Smithers the Harley Davidson shop owners will provide a barbecue for Saturday's dinner and Sunday morning breakfast before the group makes the return trip to Prince George, said organizer Byron Ward, Harley Owners Group member.
"This charity is close to my heart and the Harley Owners Group's chosen charity," said Ward. "I'm hoping to have $5,000 to donate to Muscular Dystrophy Canada."
To offer traffic control for the anticipated 100-plus riders, firefighters from each town will offer the Muscle Run riders an escort in and out of each town they travel through.
"My sincere thanks to the organizers, sponsors, donors, volunteers and riders that make the run such a success," said Susan Andrist, Muscular Dystrophy Canada representative for the local branch. "Thank you not only for your support but the friendship you share with our members. Keep riding to help us make muscles move."
For those interested in checking out the bikes or donating but not participating in the ride, there is a meet and greet with the riders that includes a barbecue on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Prince George Harley Davidson Shop at 2626 Vance Road.
"I hope the weather's good and everybody shows up," Ward said. "I'd like to thank everyone involved for their support."
Everyone is welcome to participate and can register right up to the start of the run.
Cost is $60 for bike and rider, which includes dinner and breakfast in Smithers and one hand of a Poker Run, extra hands are $10 each. For a passenger it's $20. Each registered participant will be eligible to win one of many door prizes.
If a participant raises $100 or more the registration fee is waived and out-of-towners can register along the way by registering with the chase car volunteer at any stops during the Muscle Run.
