Prince George RCMP are asking for witnesses to come forward in connection with their investigation into a report of a sexual assault Saturday evening at Lorne Park.
In particular, police are hoping a woman who may help identify the culprit to contact the detachment.
Police said the woman had noticed the man at the park just before the incident at about 9 p.m. and left the area because he had made her feel uncomfortable.
They are also asking anyone else who had a similar encounter, especially if they were in the area bounded by Massey Drive to the north, Westwood Drive to the east, Ferry Avenue to the south and Ospika Boulevard to the west.
The suspect is described as about 20 years old, six feet tall and stocky, with a medium complexion and a large, dark coloured tattoo on his left arm. He was wearing wearing a hat, dark shorts, white high top basketball shoes with Velcro type fasteners and a backpack, police said.
The female victim was attacked after she refused to hand over money and was sent to hospital after she was punched and kicked before being sexually assaulted, police said.
Prior to the attack, the man had approached a number of other women and girls near Westwood and Massey, CN Centre and the Pinewood neighbourhood.
