Highway 16 has been reopened to traffic in both directions.

Prince George RCMP has confirmed one person is dead as the result of this morning’s motor vehicle incident on Highway 16 East near the Willow River rest area.
The highway will remain closed in both directions while emergency crews complete their investigation. Drivers are urged to check with DriveBC for highway updates before traveling eastbound today.
“Police are advising that the highway will be shut down in both directions for an unknown period of time. We are currently working to determine if there are any detours in the area. Drivers are advised to check with DriveBC before heading out today,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
9:30 a.m.
An accident involving a motorcycle and a semi-trailer truck has closed Highway 16 East in both directions at the Willow River rest area.
“Police are advising that the highway will be shut down in both directions for an unknown period of time. We are currently working to determine if there are any detours in the area. Drivers are advised to check with DriveBC before heading out today,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
There is no detour available.
The accident is between Upper Fraser Rd and Willow River rest area, about 39 kilometres east of Prince George (12 km east of Tabor Mountain ski resort).
Drive BC estimates the road will reopen at 2 p.m.and will issue an update at noon.
