Motel fire causes $200,000 damage

This third-floor suite at the North Star Inn on Victoria Street was the scene of a fire Saturday morning which caused an estimated $200,000 damage.

A fire at a downtown Prince George motel Saturday morning caused an estimated $200,000 damage.

Prince George Fire Rescue crews from four halls responded to the call to the North Star Inn, 1550 Victoria St., at about 7:52 a.m. Saturday. They arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from one of the third-floor suites.

While firefighters fought the blaze, Prince George RCMP conducted an evacuation of the building.

The firefighters' rapid attack doused the flames and contained the fire to the unit in which started.

There were no injuries to civilians or fire personnel.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated by police.
