More than 900 safe rides home provided by Operation Red Nose Prince George for 2019 holiday season

Season one of the busiest recorded for the volunteer service

Operation Red Nose Prince George recorded one of its busiest holiday seasons for 2019 ensuring many made it home safe.

A total of 905 rides were provided by 200 volunteers in 2019 according to Andrea Johnson, Operation Red Nose spokesperson. New Year's Eve saw 24 road teams provide 141 rides home. 

“We were happy with how the night unfolded, even though we experienced some technical issues with our phone lines,” Johnson said. “We apologize to those who couldn’t get through, and those who did get through to us our teams picked them up and delivered them home in a timely fashion."

In 2018, 959 rides were delivered, while in 2017, a total of 838 motorists used the service. There were 872 rides delivered in 2016.

“We appreciate everyone’s support of this valuable program from our volunteers and those who call us for a safe ride home,” she added.

All donations received go toward youth and amateur sports organizations in Prince George.

A total of 5,399 rides were provided by 3,031 volunteers in B.C. and across Canada, where100 communities provided the service with 48,606 volunteers delivering 69,029 rides.
