If you need to use Highway 97 for essential travel today (March 18), be sure to be beyond Powder King Mountain Resort by this afternoon.
DriveBC says the Pine Pass is going to experience another stint of avalanche control work, causing delays for commuters between Prince George and Chetwynd.
According to the provincial service, operations will be conducted near the summit starting at 3:30 p.m.
It will take place between Azu Sub and Powder King Roads, a less than one-kilometre stretch south of the Pine Pass.
Highway 97 will be closed in both directions while crews are working.
DriveBC notes the next update is set for 4:30 p.m., likely meaning the road will be closed for at least one hour.
This is the second avalanche control work planned for the area in the last two weeks.
For more information and road upates, you can visit DriveBC's website.
There are currently no snowfall warnings in effect for Highway 97 or in any region across the north.
